Three-wheeler drivers have raised concerns that the fuel quota allocated under the QR code-based fuel management system is insufficient to sustain their operations, warning that they may launch protests if the allocation is not increased.
Drivers noted that three-wheelers are currently allocated 15 litres of fuel per week under the system, but said this amount is inadequate for those who rely on the vehicle as their primary source of income.
Representatives of three-wheeler associations said drivers require at least 35 litres of fuel per week to continue operating normally.
They warned that if the quota is not revised, three-wheeler drivers plan to stage a protest in front of the Presidential Secretariat.
Meanwhile, other transport sector representatives, including school transport operators and private bus operators, have also raised concerns that the current fuel allocations may not be sufficient to maintain regular services.
School transport operators said the diesel allocation of 60 litres per week for buses is not enough to transport students and carry out regular routes, calling on authorities to increase the quota to around 100 litres to meet operational needs.
Private bus operators meanwhile warned that if fuel allocations remain unchanged, they may be forced to reduce certain bus services due to limited fuel availability. (Newswire)
