The United States President Donald Trump said Iran has agreed not to develop a nuclear weapon and indicated that he could meet Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei if ongoing negotiations progress successfully.

Speaking in an interview on the “Pod Force One” podcast broadcast on Wednesday (3), Trump said Iran had already agreed to forgo nuclear weapons as discussions continue between the two sides.

“They’ve already agreed they’re not going to have a nuclear weapon,” Trump said.

Commenting on Khamenei’s role in the negotiations, Trump said the Iranian leader remained actively involved in the process.

“He’s involved, absolutely. I think they have a lot of respect for him,” Trump said, adding that he would be open to meeting Khamenei in the future. “I’d like to meet him. We probably will meet at some point, depending on how it all works out.”

Trump also described the conflict with Iran as a success, claiming the country’s military had been defeated. He said Washington was continuing efforts to reach a deal with Tehran but warned that military action could resume if negotiations fail. (Newswire)
