The IGP Challenge Trophy National Cadet Camp – 2025, which began on October 4 with the participation of 42 Boys’ teams and 21 Girls’ teams from over 500 schools across the country, will conclude tomorrow (10) at the Sri Lanka Police College Aluvihare Sports Grounds.
This year’s National Camp brings together 1,575 cadets — 1,050 boys and 525 girls — along with 40 Senior Non-Commissioned Officers from the Police Cadet Division, showcasing the strength and discipline of Sri Lanka’s youth training initiative.
The closing ceremony will be held under the patronage of the Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs Ananda Wijepala, with Inspector General of Police Priyantha Weerasooriya and senior officials from the Police and Education sectors in attendance.
The Police Cadet Service, established in 1972, has continued to promote discipline and leadership among students islandwide. From October 10, the Police Cadet Division will also launch a new series of leadership, first aid, and school-based drug prevention programs targeting prefects and student leaders from Grades 9 to 13.
The Sri Lanka Police Cadet Division has called on parents to encourage their children to join the Police Cadet program, highlighting its role in building a disciplined, responsible, and community-minded generation. (Newswire)
